Gift Guide for Writers
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been ready for Christmas since October—decorating the house, listening to Christmas CDs (yes, CDs)—and yet, gift shopping has somehow snuck up on me. Though I can’t help you with gift giving for everyone in your life, I CAN help you with the writers and readers in your life!
This is my gift guide for writers and readers—emphasis on the ‘my’ part. I.e., not every reader or writer is guaranteed to love these items….but I’m willing to bet it’s likely they’ll be pretty stoked! So, without further ado, here’s the gift guide!
An Old Fashioned Quill
It might seem like an odd gift idea, but writing is a very nostalgic, whimsical hobby and profession, and most of us who enjoy it, also enjoy whimsical gifts. Like a quill. Plus, anyone who’s ever enjoyed Harry Potter will appreciate having a writing utensil used at Hogwarts.
Journals
Journals may seem unnecessary to some—if you have one, why do you need more? The answer is that we do. All writers love journals, and so do many readers. So this gift is never a bad idea!
Book Nooks
Book Nooks might sound new to some, but they’re a fantastic creation for all book lovers! These particular ones come in kits for you to put together, then put them between your books for some light and whimsical decoration!
Books
What book nerd or writer doesn’t love books? Here are a few authors who are always a good idea!
Fantasy:
Camille Peters, Shari L Tapscott, Cee Louise, KM Shea, Mellanie Cellier, Kenley Davidson, Tara Grayce, W.R Gingell
RomComs:
Cindy Steele, Emma St Claire, Shari l Tapscott
Proper Romance:
Laura Beers, Martha Keyes, Ashtyn Newbold
A Framed, or Canvas Photo of Character art or Book Cover
Is your writer in love with their book? Or art they’ve had commissioned for it? Or perhaps they’re a book lover who adores a specific book or character art. Getting it printed or framed in a fun way is a great gift!
Bookends
Every reader or writer needs a good set of bookends! And if they can be aesthetically appealing? Even better!
Book Themed Office Supplies
From tape dispensers to pen holders, book themed items for your office, desk or writing/reading space are always a great gift option!
Sticky Tabs
Tabs may seem like an odd gift, but for readers and writers alike, they’re a staple to have on hand! Especially if they’re pretty like these ones!
Bookish Wall Decor
What office space or reading space is complete without some bookish wall decor?
Book Light
This gift idea may sound too simple, but every reader needs a book light!
Whiteboard
This is definitely a writer’s gift. A whiteboard might seem like an odd choice, but I do most of my initial book plotting on a whiteboard, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Book Darts & Bookmarks
From stocking stuffers to small surprise gifts, book marks and book darts are perfect for any reader!
Book Themed Kindle Case
Having a kindle is great, but having a book themed kindle case? Now that’s a powerhouse gift!
Writing Bag
Writers are always lugging around journals, files, pencils, sticky notes and ten other things. So a writing bag is the perfect way for your writer to keep track of their things on the go!
Wax Seal
It may seem like an unnecessary gift, but a wax seal is a great gift for anyone! Reminiscent of an older time, any writer or reader will be excited to get a customized wax seal!
Planner Accessories
Writers always have a lot going on and a lot to keep track of, so planners are our best friends…even if we don’t always use them. Here are some planners and accessories for any writer!
And there you have it! That’s my gift list for writers and readers. Hopefully you find it helpful, whether it be for Christmas shopping, birthday shopping, or a gift for you!
If you end up getting any of these items, let me know how they worked for you! I’m always excited to see people using the things that I recommended! Makes my heart so happy—plus, I’m always looking for more excuses to buy the things on this list 🙈
